Booking your Caterer : The Epic Way

So you are getting married! Congratulations- that is so exciting! You have probably booked your venue or are at least looking for the venue, the magical cake, the special dress, and, of course, the caterers.

Wondering where to start?

Planning a wedding can be overwhelming. Deciding what to serve on your day and bringing that wow factor you deserve can be challenging. But no fear, Epic is here! We want to help you have a stress-free catering experience. So, we have gathered all the tricks and tips to help you achieve the wedding food of your dreams.

However, we know one size doesn’t fit all. Making your day yours is our number one priority. So, let’s start with the basics.

How do we book a caterer for our wedding?

It’s worth researching caterers in the area, asking friends, visiting wedding directories such as Hitched (www.hitched.co.uk), or asking your venue if they have a list of recommended caterers. Or, you can always contact us directly, wink, wink.

Discuss ideas for your menu with your fiance. Do you have a theme in mind? A particular kind of food you both love. It is easier to narrow down a caterer if you know what you want. Once you’ve narrowed down a caterer or two you like, contact them and arrange an informal chat. Initial consultations are ideal for understanding your vision for the big day.

Epic Meetings

Our first interaction with you might be over a phone call. After that, we follow up with a Zoom call or a face-to-face meeting, depending on your needs. We are very flexible and able to adapt to your needs.

Before you say, I do. Taste.

We can organise a taster in many ways. Sometimes, tasters happen at the venue you have booked for your wedding on a dedicated evening when we cater for a few couples. Sometimes, tasters at our Bristol or Cardiff HQ. Depending on the best date and times that suit you, we have a range of dates and locations available for you to choose from.

Tasters include chef’s choice; a complementary menu is served, including a selection of menu items from our offerings: canapés, starters, main course, and dessert.

Or maybe a bespoke taster is more up your street.

What happens next?

We aim to finalise details around six months before your wedding date. After that, two to three months before your wedding date, we hand over to your dedicated event manager, who will then do a final run-through from start to finish, covering dietaries, guest numbers, menu changes, any specific requirements added on, supplier meals, etc.

On your wedding day, we will arrive bright and early, set up and take care of all the food. We stay until the end of the evening food or bar closing.

Top FIVE questions you should ask us when booking

  1. Have we catered weddings at the venue?

  2. Are there any venue quirks or things you should know from our experience?

  3. Have a bespoke menu in mind? Let us know to see if we can create your bespoke dishes.

  4. What’s included with our service? Event manager, service staff, cutlery, crockery, etc.

  5. What food do you get excited to make? What wedding have you done with something different?
